Any advice for taking kids for their first game?
Am going to take my four kids ( all under 10) to their first WH game v Birmingham in the cup. Can anyone give me the best advice on which part of the LS to go to? I’ve been a few times but I’m not familiar with the stadium and any family set up. Thanks.

If it were in the summer there'd be loads for the kids to do in the park. This time of year though it's in and out really.

As for where to sit everywhere is alright apart from right next to the away.

You've got the first bit right.

Wait until Pellegrini takes over.

Introduce them to the following words.

Fuck. Cunt. Shit. Bollocks. Wanker. Cunt. Fuck. Shit. Dick. Cock. Utter cunt. Fuck. Shit.

I took my lad to his first game in 2014, v Sunderland. Saved me all sorts of trouble in the language education section.

Tell them not to cheer when the other team scores but to feel happy and warm within when they do as West ham are a charitable decent club that love all people no matter who they support and sometimes well most times they allow the other team to win because their fans are very sad and they need a lift.

They're probably too young to really enjoy it. I remember Dad took me to Spurs who had just won the double, so it must have been 1962 when I was 9, and I got frightened whenever the crowd roared (mind you, it was standing room only then). Two years later he took me to West Ham and I was hooked from that point.

Also you can contact the club and send photos of the kids and a few words about it being their first game, and get them into Fans United in the programme if you want to make it really special for them, mine were thrilled to see themselves.

Take plenty of sweets and anything that they may enjoy. When I first took my kids they done everything apart from the watch the game, it drove me mad but a few bags of their favourite sweets done the trick.

Don't be too precious when they hear swear words then go home and tell mum the new words they've learnt.

I took my boy to his first game @ 5 years old - I think that was too young tbh.

As he's got older - Just turned 7 - I no longer need other things to amuse him like IPad etc. He actually sits, watches and enjoys the game now.

With regard to the language they hear - In my opinion, it's my choice to take him, therefore it's up to me to manage the situation. He knows swearing is wrong and knows not to repeat anything he hears. I don't blame people swearing, I've done/do it when I go on my own, so don't expect people to tone it down.

I'm taking him to Fulham Saturday in the away end - In the hope of showing him what a football atmosphere can actually be like.

So my advice would be, under 7 is probably too young, but every kid is different. They will hear fruity language no matter where you sit - so if it's something you feel is going to irritate you and cause you to get into a row, maybe hold off.

With regards to bad language, I made the mistake of taking my 4 year old to Orient for his first game on an impulse.

I can honestly say, I have never heard anything like it in my life. He seemed oblivious, though. It was Orient v Colchester - I suppose when he asked, 'who are we supporting?' I shouldn't have responded, 'Doesn't matter, they're both cunts'...

I thought this was going to be another 'can I borrow a child' thread.

Is it safer to take a child to a game first or introduce them to WHO first?
